Winter Driving Best Practices

While preparing for a drive in winter season, please read the instructions below for a safe journey.

California Driver Education Safety tips

1. The primary action to be taken while starting a drive at winter is to clean snow and ice off your whole car or your vehicle to maximize your visibility. Please make sure to clear your headlamps, taillights, turn signals and side-view mirrors.

2. Always remember to Wear your seat belt. Take necessary steps to make sure you and all of your passengers are protected.

3. Slow down or park your vehicle appropriately if Snowy weather affects visibility, and icy roads make it harder to control your car. Keep a safe distance between your vehicle and the one ahead.

4. Use Fox lamps appropriately

5. Avoid driving in heavy or freezing rain to avoid your car slipping and sliding on black ice.

6. Check your fuel tank and make sure you have enough fuel in reserve for your journey. Extreme weather may get you stuck in traffic, or require you to change routes or turn back, so you should always have at least half a tank of fuel throughout.

7. Check local weather and road conditions before leaving, and give yourself enough time to reach your destination.

8. Keep your car unlocked to avoid freezing. Or alternatively lock your car as a precaution. Always keep a pocket size bottle of lock de-icer for those really freezing days.
